Shell was one of the major sponsors at the launch dinner of the new Corporate Identity for Emirates Aviation Services (EAS), which was held in October 2002 under the patronage of H. E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of Emirates Airlines. The evening also featured the graduation ceremony of the first group of EAS' private pilots.

The Shell-backed Enviro-Spellathon programme was launched in Dubai and the Northern Emirates on 9th February, following its successful first year in Abu Dhabi. The programme for children, which is also supported by Emirates Wildlife Society, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Environmental Research & Wildlife Development Agency (ERWDA), will now target over 125,000 primary school children, aged between six and 12, across the four Emirates of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.
