ADCO Squash Tournament

For the past seven years, Shell Abu Dhabi has been sponsoring the ADCO Squash Open Tournament, now known as the Shell Squash Tournament.

The tournament is organised by ADCO squash club and played on its squash courts. The 2008 tournament included for the first time a category for men in addition to the normal boys and girls categories.

Another news this year was the number of participants exceeding one hundred players. The tournament had several age categories for boys (under 10, under 13, and under 17), girls open, and men open. Present at the prize distribution ceremony were Nejib Zaarfani, Shell Abu Dhabi Managing Director, Mohamed Sanad Al Qubaisi, ADCO Assistant General Manager for Support Services and Hesham Helmy, Chairman of ADCO Squash Club.

In the men open category, Aamir Khan won the final game. Shell Abu Dhabi had sponsored Aamir when he represented the UAE in the Pioneer Junior Squash tournament held in Germany in 2006. He came in the tenth position out of one hundred and thirty four players and was named 'Next World Champion'.
