The environment competition

In an effort to promote environmental appreciation and showcase the hard work of students in Abu Dhabi, the Environment Agency displayed the artwork, photographs, 3-D models, posters and research papers submitted by the students during the Environmental Competition for the academic year 2007/2008.

The Competition, which is supported by Shell Abu Dhabi and is organised in coordination with the UAE Ministry of Education, was open to all Abu Dhabi school students and was held under the World Environment Day theme “Climate Change: A Hot Topic”.

In this year’s competition, contestants below the age of six were asked to create art pieces on the theme “Our Hot Sun”, while primary school students produced artwork on the theme “Melting Ice and Polar Animals”.

Students aged nine to eleven produced artwork reflecting the theme “Our Changing Climate”, middle-school students wrote stories describing climate change through the eyes of plants and animals, and students above fifteen years old drew cartoons and caricature with a slogan reflecting the theme “Save the Earth from Climate Change”.
