In celebration of the Royal Dutch Shell’s 100th birthday, Shell Abu Dhabi held a reception in September at the Emirates Palace to mark the event.

The Shell Group celebration of the Centenary was on 5th July 2007 in The Hague, the anniversary of the date in 1907 of the merging of the interests of Royal Dutch Petroleum Company and Shell Transport & Trading Company to form the Royal Dutch Shell Group. In 2005 the two parent companies were unified as Royal Dutch Shell plc.

Shell Abu Dhabi hosted a unique event in June, at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, to feature Shell’s growing global business in sulphur management. Mr Egbert Veldman, Shell Sulphur Business Vice President, led the presentation for key technical partners in Abu Dhabi, that highlighted emerging sulphur opportunities in the global market. He was joined by a team of international sulphur experts to talk on the following Shell-patented sulphur products:

In a thank-you note to Shell Abu Dhabi - and other potential partners - for the initiatives with the Emirates Foundation, General Shaikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, presented Nejib Zaafrani, Chairman and Managing Director of Shell Abu Dhabi, with an award in September at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.
